Dr Rich Blonna - Your Guide To Less Stress and Better SexI'm Dr Rich Blonna, a world-renowned expert in understanding how the mind and body work together to reduce stress and have better sex. I am a retired Professor Emeritus from William Paterson University in NJ. For over 30 years I have devoted myself to helping people stress less and have better sex lives. As a Coach (BCC), Counselor (NCC), and Health Education Specialist (CHES) I use the best practices from each of these disciplines to help people stress less and have better sex lives.  I am a noted author and trainer in the area of Acceptance and Commitment  (AC) Coaching, an approach that helps people become more psychologically-flexible, reduce their stress,  and get the most out of their relationships. I am also certified in Naikan and Morita, two forms of Japanese psychology that use mindfulness and acceptance to help people shift their focus off  of  troubling thoughts, painful emotions, and unhelpful self-talk and onto behaving in ways that reduce their stress and enhance their lives.

Over 30 years ago I developed a multi-level defense system against stress called the Five R’s of Coping Model . It became the framework for my best -selling college textbook (Blonna R, 2012). Coping With Stress in a Changing World. 5th edition, McGraw-Hill. From that I have developed college courses and self-help courses that have helped thousands of students and coaching clients all over the globe take back their lives from the ravages of stress.

The Five R's of Coping

Each "R" in the model , Rethink, Relax, Release, Reduce, and Reorganize, is a line of defense that uses multiple techniques to help you attack stress in a unique way. The five different levels work together in a synergistic way.

  • Reorganize - shows your clients how to build a more stress-resistant lifestyle based on hardy health habits. 
  • Relax- shows your clients how to shut down their stress response by putting their bodies in a relaxed state by mastering proven, easy-to-learn techniques that will relax them instantly.
  • Release- shows your clients how to get rid of the tension and nervous energy associated with their stress in healthy ways.
  • Rethink - shows your clients easy-to-master mental techniques that change the way they think about stress and their ability to handle it.
