I’m certified in Naikan and Morita, two forms of Japanese psychology that emphasize mindfulness and acceptance training respectively. I’m also a Board Certified Coach (BCC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). My eclectic approach combines the best practices from all of these disciplines. I’ve helped thousands of people from the United States, Europe, South Africa, and Asia through my books, audios, and adult training courses. My home is in Marco Island, Florida where I live with Heidi, my wife of 48 years. I love writing, tennis, running, kayaking, swimming, biking, weight training, meditation on the beach, and anything that gets me outdoors in the sun.

In this video I show how AC Sex Coaching applies Acceptance to Sex.

Instead of accepting themselves, their partners, and their sexual activity for what they are, many clients are constantly comparing and judging them against unattainable societal standards. This often causes clients to get stuck in a sexual rut. Sexual acceptance teaches clients how to accept themselves, their partners, and their sexual activity for what they are and to savor them. It shows clients how to apply the four components of acceptance to their sexuality.

The observing self view allows clients to step back and become impartial observers of their sexual thoughts, personal scripts, mental images and emotions. When clients can observe their sexual thoughts, personal scripts etc., from the safe distance of the observing self view, it allows them to see that their mental activity is just that, things going on in their minds.

Disentanglement techniques give clients several different ways to step back and take an observing-self view. Sexual Commitment builds upon Valued Sexual Living by taking the sexual values clients identify in that process and using them to set values-based personal and relationship sexual goals. When your clients’ sexual actions are connected to their sexual values they have a clear purpose and direction. The thing that makes any action purposeful is the notion of intent. When clients do something on purpose, they do it intentionally, not by chance, or on a whim.

Sexual valued living shows clients how to clarify their personal and relationship sexual values and live their lives in ways that reflect their values.

The idea is to help clients become more genuine and live their lives according to their own sexual values. It applies the four steps of valued living to their sex lives.

Valued sexual living sets the stage for sexual commitment.
